The Hobart-Lawrence Police department in Hobart, Wis., listed the charges in a news release. They include domestic battery, damage to property, disorderly conduct, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim.

Jacobs reportedly turned himself in to the police and was booked into Brown County Jail. The arrest follows a reported incident on Saturday night and police say the investigation is ongoing.

Lawyers for Jacobs released a statement after his arrest.

“Josh vehemently denies the allegations and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evident that has not yet been made public. We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course,” read a statement from attorneys David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld and Clarence Duchac.

The Packers declined to comment on the matter, with one spokesperson only saying, “We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs. As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment.”

Jacobs, 27, is far and away the top running back for Green Bay, where he has spent the last two seasons after playing for the Raiders for five years. Last season, the three-time Pro Bowl selection ran for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns (14 TDs in total) in 15 games, totaling 1,211 yards. The arrest is bad news for the team, which Vegas oddsmakers have tapped as a plausible Super Bowl contender.
