Jeff Baena, a writer and director who is also married to actress to Aubrey Plaza, has died at the age of 47.
As per law enforcement sources speaking to TMZ, Baena's body was found at around 10:30 a.m. local time on Friday at a Los Angeles-area home.
After being pronounced dead at the scene, law enforcement sources told the outlet that his death is being ruled a suicide.
Born and raised in Miami, Baena later attended film school at New York University. He moved to Los Angeles shortly after graduating to begin his career in entertainment.
There he found lower-level jobs with director such as Robert Zemeckis and David O. Russell. It's while working with Russell that he began to make a name for himself as the two collaborated on four screenplays, including 'I Heart Huckabees' which starred Dustin Hoffman and Lily Tomlin.
After that he made his directorial debut by writing and directing 'Life After Beth', a zombie comedy that starred Plaza.
Baena and Plaza's relationship
Baena and Plaza met and started dating back in 2011. From the start they kept their relationship private, and never announced their engagement or wedding.
Plaza revealed the two were married in an instagram post in May 2021 when she referred to him as her "darling husband".
"So proud of my darling husband @jeffbaena for dreaming up another film that takes us to italia to cause some more trouble," she wrote.
