Ryan Reynolds, One Piece, Pikachu

SUMMARY

  • The recent revelation of Chopper's character in One Piece live-action season 2 has surprised fans.
  • While fans are happy with the CGI of the character, they still are confused about who is going to voice him.
  • Some fans would love Ryan Reynolds to voice Chopper as he did a brilliant job with Detective Pikachu.

The One Piece live-action series has become the biggest highlight of Netflix Geeked Week 2024, as it has made some major disclosures about the upcoming season. As the season will focus on most of the Alabasta Saga, the actors who will play the characters from the storyline are slowly being revealed to the fans, and it is certainly an exciting batch.

However, the biggest revelation by the One Piece live-action creators is the glimpse of Tony Tony Chopper, the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates. Chopper’s role was especially important in the live-action adaptation. This was because he is a reindeer who ate the Hito Hito no Mi, making his casting a little more difficult than the others.

While the sneak peek by Netflix hints that the fan-favorite doctor might just live up to the expectations, the question about his voice actor still remains. And based on his Detective Pikachu-style CGI, One Piece fans believe Ryan Reynolds would be the perfect voice actor for him.

The CGI of Tony Tony Chopper is Better Than What Fans Expected

The role and creation of Chopper in One Piece live-action has been one of the biggest topics for debates since the first season. Although the series had decent VFX and CGI effects, fans were particularly doubtful of Chopper, as he was much more complex and important for the narrative.

Plus, the seven different forms that he has used throughout the story also would have posed a big problem for the creators.

Many One Piece fans even thought that Netflix might just use a puppet in Chopper’s place, which would have downgraded the overall appeal of the upcoming season.

However, the recent preview of Chopper during the table reading of the second season has left a good impression on fans. It feels like the showrunners have decided to go down the Detective Pikachu route, which was a particular favorite for fans in terms of animation of the different Pokémon species featured in the movie.

One Piece Fans Have The Most Unique Request For Chopper’s Voice Actor

As soon as Chopper’s character in One Piece live-action was hinted to the fans, the first question that everyone asked was “Who is going to voice the cute doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates?” Chopper’s voice actor is also very important for his role because most of his expressions and emotions would be reflected through his voice.

This is why many One Piece fans are in favor of casting Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds for the role. Reynolds did a great job with Detective Pikachu, and fans hope that he might be the same with Chopper too.

While it is one of the weirdest combinations ever, it might just work as it would give a unique perspective to Chopper’s character.

Chopper’s role is crucial in the second season, as this time the series will majorly focus on the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates from Logue Town to Drum Island. He is one of the two crewmates who join Luffy in his adventure to find the One Piece treasure during the Alabasta saga, which makes him particularly important.

One Piece live-action is available to watch on Netflix.
