The United States and Iran have reportedly agreed to meet in Qatar on Tuesday to resolve issues over the Strait of Hormuz.

A Trump administration official said the U.S. and Iran “will stand down for now” after exchanging attacks with each other near the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend. U.S. officials stated the two countries have agreed to meet on Tuesday in Qatar, something Iran’s deputy foreign minister has denied.
Also, the Israeli Defence Forces launched attacks on three Hezbollah command centres in southern Lebanon, claiming it was in response to ceasefire violations.

Iran strikes southern Lebanon, citing ceasefire violations
Israeli military has launched attacks on three Hezbollah command centres in southern Lebanon, in response to ceasefire violations.
“These strikes came in response to the terror organization Hezbollah’s continued targeting of our forces operating in the security zone,” Avichay Adraee, a spokesperson from the Israeli Defence Forces, stated on X.

The fighting between Israel and Hezbollah has threatened to throw off ongoing peace talks between Iran and the U.S., ABC News reported.
On Friday, the U.S. announced a “framework” for future talks between Lebanon and Israel to seek an end to the fighting in Lebanon.
Hezbollah rejected the agreement on Saturday.
Early Monday, the Israeli Air Force struck overnight at alleged Hezbollah command centers in Nabatieh and Mayfadoun in southern Lebanon, the IDF said on X.
“Additionally, troops struck and dismantled a launcher that Hezbollah continued using to attack them,” it said.
$6B in frozen assets in Qatar to be returned, says Iranian president
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has claimed that half of Iran’s frozen assets held in Qatar will be returned to Tehran.
Pezeshkian made the announcement during meetings with senior Iranian clerics in the city of Qom, semi-official Tasnim news agency reported, per CNN.
“Based on the plans made, $6 billion out of the total $12 billion of Iran’s resources in Qatar will be returned to the country, and the necessary follow-ups are also underway for the return of the remaining part of these resources,” Pezeshkian said.

The memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran agreed that Washington “undertakes to make fully available for use the frozen or restricted funds and assets of the Islamic Republic of Iran upon the implementation” of the agreement.
Iran says ‘no plan’ for talks with U.S.
Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, said there are currently no plans to hold meetings with U.S. officials to from the “technical teams” in Qatar this week.
“Although consultations with Qatar – including on following up on the implementation of the other party’s commitments – are ongoing as usual, the news from some media outlets that technical talks by the working groups will be held in Doha cannot be confirmed,” Gharibabadi said in a statement on Telegram, per Al Jazeera.
“The first round of technical talks within the framework of the designated working groups will be held when conditions are met and after an agreement is reached on the date and location. Consultations in this regard are continuing through intermediary countries,” he added.
Several media outlets reported that the U.S.-Iran talks are expected to take place in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Tuesday.

Iran-U.S. talks set for Qatar in ‘coming days’
The United States and Iran are reportedly set to hold talks in Doha, Qatar’s capital, “in the coming days,” a source told news outlet Al Jazeera.
“Technical teams working on the implementation of the MoU are scheduled to meet in Doha in the coming days. Communication channels created to de-escalate any incidents are in place and technical talks are set to continue,” the unnamed source told the news outlet.
