But back in 2001, another iconic actress’s name was linked with the La La Land actor. It was rumored that Sandra Bullock was dating Gosling, their 16-year age gap shocked the world but the pair were besotted.
Around the same time, the actress was also filming a rom-com with Hugh Grant. Spending time on set gave birth to speculations that she was seeing the Emmy-nominated actor. Though she did not confirm her relationship with Gosling, she denied all allegations of dating her co-star. Some rumors were so exaggerated that they claimed The Proposal lead was pregnant, all of which she denied.

Though the pair had a 16-year age gap, with the actress being 37 while her boyfriend was only 21, they didn’t care. Many believed they were quietly dating off-camera since neither confirmed the relationship.
During that time Bullock was also shooting for a romantic comedy, Two Weeks Notice with Hugh Grant, an actor she always wanted to work with. But due to their sizzling chemistry on screen, rumors soon began of the film’s leads dating in real life.
Anything that’s been in the paper, since I’ve started shooting [is untrue…] Hugh and I aren’t dating. We’re not fighting. I’m not pregnant.
Addressing these absurd claims, the Ocean’s 8 actress sat down for an interview with UPI. She reaffirmed that she was not pregnant nor dating her co-star. The media had by then spun allegations of Gosling being cheated on by his then-girlfriend, all of which turned out to be fake.
Toxic media and busy schedules: Cause for the split
As per a report from InStyle, the pair never publicly commented on their romance. Thus, they were linked together for almost two years before they split in 2003. At the time of their breakup, the reason was unknown, but years later the Barbie actor addressed his past.

In an interview with The Times in 2011 (as per The Things), the Fall Guy lead revealed details about his relationship with his former girlfriend. Talking about their breakup, he claimed it was due to the inherent toxic nature of the industry. But the pair have maintained a cordial relationship since then, having fond memories of each other.

In the same interview, he stated that Bullock, along with Rachel McAdams, were two of his greatest girlfriends. Looking back to past memories, the I’m Just Ken performer acknowledged his faults and good luck in getting the nicest partners. At present, the actor is happily married to Eva Mendes, who he claims is ‘the person I’m supposed to be with’.
