“Love conquers all.”— Retired Toronto Sun courts legend Sam Pazzano

The now-retired dean of Toronto court reporters led the way in the notorious 2019 Prisoner of Love story.
Former corrections officer turned stripper Sukhpreet Singh was a married guard at the Toronto South Detention Centre when, out of all the joints in all the world, career criminal Tatum Ogden walked into hers.
Needless to say, it was love at third strike. Soon, the con and corrections officer were engaged in hormone-charged hijinks and she fell pregnant. This is all a bit untidy, particularly after he emerged from the clink.
Self-described ‘Bonnie and Clyde’
Suspended, Singh used her mom’s Jeep Wrangler to act as the old man’s getaway driver in an armed holdup at a Brampton Subway shop on March 13, 2019, and a violent heist at a Huntsville motel on March 16.
Flipping through some old clips, I found Sammy’s story. Did a search and discovered that true love does indeed last. And some times allegedly, so does criminality.

Singh, 31, and Ogden, 39, along with two others were arrested driving a stolen car in Wasaga Beach in late January. Ogden was dinged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, operation while prohibited, resisting a peace officer, escaping lawful custody, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (five counts), possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and from the greatest hits package, failure to comply with a release order.
For her part, the dusky beauty was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and five counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
The pair — who she called Bonnie and Clyde on Instagram posts — now have that child and reside in Caledon.
But once, they set our hearts ablaze. Singh took to gushing on Instagram about her Casanova of the clink.
‘I want to kiss and smack’
“I miss you. Not a day goes by when I don’t think of you. I can talk to you for hours but it’s not the same as being by your side every day, all day,” Singh wrote after spending two months behind bars herself.

“I can’t think of anyone that I want to kiss and smack at the same time. We were the perfect ying and yang (sic). I got you forever.”

She added: “I’ll hold it down till (sic) we’re back together here, keep it going. Ride or die,” she finished with the #perfectpair and #bonnieandclyde.
At her bail hearing, her sureties vowed they would monitor Singh’s social media use and cut off ties to Ogden. That didn’t happen.
At the time, Ogden was charged with a dozen robberies, including a break-in at Singh’s father’s Tandoori restaurant in Brampton, where he allegedly snatched $100 while an unidentified blonde kept watch.
54 prior convictions
Lover boy was eventually convicted for the heists and sentenced to three years in prison because of COVID-19 pandemic. At that point, he had racked up 54 priors.
Ogden professed his feality to Singh — his Bonnie — in a Toronto courtroom.
He said: “I love her to pieces. She is my wife. I have never loved anybody like I loved her.”
Pazzano recalled the heart-warming moment.

“It was unforgettable. As soon as the charge was dropped, it went from domestic violence to a proposal in like 30 seconds.,” Pazzano told me Wednesday. “Of course, there would be more violence but it looks like they stayed together.”
He noted that big auto theft rings are about greed, Singh and Ogden’s latest alleged theft seemed to be about need.
Yet, love appears to conquer all — including extended jolts in jail.
