One of Hamburger SV's breakout stars last season, Luka Vušković, will not be returning for a second stint at the club.

Brighton & Hove Albion confirmed earlier this afternoon that the Croatian has signed for them from Tottenham Hotspur.

Vušković, who spent last campaign on loan at HSV who hoped to retain his services, joins the Seagulls for a hefty €53million price tag.

There at the seaside club, the defender will link up with former FC St. Pauli coach Fabian Hürzeler who was happy with the transfer.

“Luka has had a fantastic start to his career – we have been closely following his progress,” said Hürzeler after the deal was completed.

“Last season he proved that he can play at a very high level, and we want to support him in building on that in our environment.

"There was a lot of hype surrounding his move to us, but he is still a young player who needs time to adapt to the demands of Brighton and the Premier League”.
