As so often before, Michael Olise stole the show in Bayern Munich’s 7-0 demolition of 1. FC Union Berlin on Friday, scoring a hat-trick, setting up a Harry Kane goal and winning a penalty.
Olise’s importance to Bayern is nothing new – after all, the Frenchman scored 22 goals and provided 31 assists in 52 appearances during the 2025/26 campaign.
But, impressively, Harry Kane believes Olise has taken his game up another notch since the start of the new season.
“He’s made an incredible start to the season. I already thought he was fantastic last year. He had a great World Cup and has carried that form straight into this season. I think he can continue to improve because of his age and his mentality. The players around him push him, and of course the coach does too. He’s in a great environment to improve and develop,” Kane told Bild.
“Not just today (Friday), but since the start of the season, he has clearly raised his level again. We need him because he is an important player for us. It was nice to see him smile after his first hat-trick. I think he was proud of it – and rightly so. I really enjoy playing with Michael and I also appreciate him as a person. We get along extremely well away from football too.”
Olise has already scored eight goals and provided four assists in seven competitive appearances for Bayern this season.
