The 32-year-old's impending signing has rumbled Ndiaye's parent club RSC Anderlecht who previously seemed willing to extend the full-back's loan spell with Schalke.

Since gaining promotion to the Bundesliga, it looked more and more likely that Schalke 04 would be unable to retain Moussa Ndiaye.

That was the case until yesterday when it was reported Ndiaye's parent club Anderlecht were willing to extend his loan with the Royal Blues.

However, since the impending signing of Robin Gosens from Fiorentina was confirmed, that offer from the Belgian side is off the table.

According to WAZ, the arrival of the 32-year-old German is expected to rival Ndiaye, hence reducing his potential minutes at left-back.

Furthermore, if Schalke avoids relegation and Gosens plays a certain number of games, they have an obligation to buy him permanently.

Contrary to initial reports, the transfer fee will likely be just over €1million and the initial loan fee is not considered to be part of the deal.

Gosens is set to become one of Schalke's top earners, with coach Miron Muslic convincing the left-footed player to join his boyhood club.

Now, the question remains whether the Gelsenkirchen club can retain the Senegalese defender, or simply have to let him go.
