For the past few days, rumors have been circulating that Glen Powell might be tapped to play a key role in the DCU. Twisters Director Said David Corenswet Brought Superman’s Character Into The Film

David Corenswet was chosen as the replacement for Henry Cavill after the latter had to depart the franchise once James Gunn took over DC Studios and decided to go for a soft reboot. Set to make his debut in Gunn’s Superman in July 2025, the actor’s selection was controversial when it was announced.

While Corenswet’s role in Twisters was nowhere near Superman, director Lee Isaac Chung mentioned that something changed after the audition and that the actor brought in a bit of Superman into the movie. He said to THR,

He was doing some auditions for ‘Superman’ while we were filming, and David is the type of actor who keeps a little bit of his character within himself while he’s working through the day. He’s not full-out method, but he just has a bit of that [character’s] persona to him. And when he came back from auditions in L.A., he came back as Superman. I saw Clark Kent in the way that he smiled at me and in the way he talked to me, and I realized, ‘Oh, he brought that audition back.’

The filmmaker also mentioned that he had a vision of Corenswet as Superman and figured that he had gotten the role once he came back from the auditions.

Twisters is currently playing in theaters.
