Borussia Mönchengladbach’s head of sport Rouven Schröder confirmed on Saturday that they're yet to receive offers for Nico Elvedi and Moritz Nicolas. Both players were linked with several teams since the first transfer window in 2026.
Leeds United were linked with Elvedi during the World Cup. The center-back helped Switzerland to their first quarter-final appearance since 1938. The 29-year-old joined Gladbach in 2015 from FC Zürich.
There was also no shortage of suitors for goalkeeper Nicolas in the past. Aston Villa were among those linked with the shot-stopper, while Celtic were also reportedly interested in him at one point. The 28-year-old also joined in 2015, but it was only after the end of his third loan that he became the number 1 at Borussia-Park.
Both players are in the leadership group announced by Eugen Polanski on Friday. Tim Kleindienst, who only played three games last season due to injury, will remain as captain. Rocco Reitz handled the responsibility in his absence, but he has now joined RB Leipzig in a controversial move.
Philipp Sander and Kevin Diks will also be in Gladbach’s team council this season.
