Germany confirm talks with top favourite to succeed Nagelsmann

The DFB is expected to move quickly in its search for a new head coach, with Jürgen Klopp reportedly set to become its top target.

Following Julian Nagelsmann's resignation as Germany head coach, the DFB have officially identified Jürgen Klopp as its preferred candidate to lead the national team.

According to information released by the federation, DFB officials are now going to open talks with the 59-year-old, who has already signalled his general willingness to accept the position.

Klopp has long been regarded as one of Germany's most successful and influential coaches, having enjoyed trophy-laden spells with Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool before stepping away from club management.

The DFB is now hoping to convince him to take charge of the national team as Germany begins a new chapter following its disappointing World Cup campaign under Nagelsmann.

While formal negotiations are yet to begin, Klopp's reported openness to the role is likely to boost optimism among German supporters that one of the country's most respected coaches could soon be at the helm of the national team.
