After starting Germany’s first two games of the World Cup, Nathaniel Brown sat out Thursday’s 2-1 defeat to Ecuador as a precaution.

The Eintracht Frankfurt left-back has been struggling with an adductor issue, but should be fit for Germany’s round-of-32 encounter with Paraguay on Monday, Rudi Völler said on Saturday.

“We are all hoping he will be ready by Monday,” said Germany’s director of professional football at a press conference.

“There are still two days to go, and I expect him to train today,” Völler added.

If Brown ultimately isn’t passed fit, David Raum would be ready to step in again, just as he did against Ecuador.
