George Clooney called Presley Gerber’s death last month “the worst thing that could ever happen with family” in his first comments on the tragedy.
“Quite honestly, it’s one of the most devastating things that’s happened to our family,” Clooney told Entertainment Tonight at the Albies on Friday evening.
“And their family is just … as you can imagine.” George’s wife, human rights attorney Amal, stood alongside her husband as he made the heartfelt comments.
Clooney and his wife, Amal, are longtime friends with the famous family — Presley’s parents are supermodel Crawford and George’s business partner, Rande Gerber.
Together, Rande and George co-founded tequila brand Casamigos, and their families have remained friends for decades.
Presley died on Sept 20 of an apparent overdose on Sept. 20 while staying at a luxurious sober living facility in Santa Monica, Los Angeles.
He was 27 years old.
