Police in Ottawa have arrested a 22-year-old man accused of attempting to lure an Alberta child to the national capital.

Police said Wednesday they received information from Calgary police in July alleging the man was trying to lure an underage girl.

Willem Fraser of Gatineau was arrested Tuesday. Facing a charge of luring a person under 16 years via telecommunication, he was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact the Ottawa Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit at 613-236-1222, ext. 5660. Tips may also be sent electronically to [email protected].
