G2 driver caught at twice legal 100 km/h limit on Highway 401

1 week ago 10

A 17-year-old youth with a restrictive G2 driving licence faces a long list of criminal and traffic charges after a wild ride on the slippery Highway 401 near Gananoque on Friday night.

Ontario Provincial Police said the westbound driver was spotted making unsafe lane changes while travelling at 201 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

More dramatically, the driver roared up the Gananoque on-ramp at 153 km/h. The posted speed there is 30.

The driver was arrested and charged with stunt and dangerous driving.

The vehicle was impounded and the driving licence was suspended. Any further penalties will be decided in court.
