Fleetwood Mac’s Lindsey Buckingham reveals where he stands with Stevie Nicks after years-long feud

Lindsey Buckingham confirmed his years-long feud with Stevie Nicks is over.

“Stevie and I are talking all the time now,” Buckingham told E! News at Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood event on Thursday.

The 76-year-old musician also teased that “next year should be a pretty interesting year” with the release of a Fleetwood Mac documentary tied to the 50th anniversary of the band’s 1977 album “Rumours.”

“Because I think quite a few things will reveal themselves,” he said.

While Buckingham dodged a question about a possible tour, he said “the most important thing” is that the group’s surviving members — himself, Nicks, 78, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie — have reconciled and can work together again.

“I think the process of making that has been a very circular healing process for all of us,” he shared. “Because we had left things in 2019, maybe as far as I was concerned, not in a very good place for all the wrong reasons.”

Buckingham added, “No one was happy about it, and all of that has been healed and worked out.”

Last year, Buckingham and Nicks showed they were able to mend fences by coming together to remaster and re-release their first and only album, “Buckingham Nicks. “

The former bandmates famously dated from 1972 to 1978, and split while recording the “Rumours” album.

In 1997, Nicks told Rolling Stone that she “resented” lyrics Buckingham penned in “Go Your Own Way,” with lines insinuating the singer was “packing up, shacking up” with different men after their breakup.

“He knew it wasn’t true. It was just an angry thing that he said. Every time those words would come onstage, I wanted to go over and kill him,” explained Nicks. “He knew it, so he really pushed my buttons through that. It was like, ‘I’ll make you suffer for leaving me.’”

They both stayed in Fleetwood Mac until Buckingham was fired following a behind-the-scenes altercation in 2018.

Nicks and Buckingham allegedly didn’t speak again until the celebration of life for former bandmate Christine McVie, who died in 2022 at age 79.

“The only time I’ve spoken to Lindsey was there, for about three minutes,” Nicks told Rolling Stone in 2024. 

“I dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could,” she expressed. “You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances.”
