The residence was filled with smoke.

The fire was in a district without hydrants, so a water shuttle operation was set up using tanker trucks.

Firefighters climbed to the roof to spray water down the chimney.

The fire had spread into the attic and crews opened up the ceilings to access and extinguish the flames.

The fire was declared under control at about 5:40 p.m.

Teams used high-pressure fans to clear the smoke and placed tarps on the owner’s belongings to protect them from smoke and water damage.

The occupants were not displaced as the fire was contained to the area of origin.

No injuries were reported.

A fire investigator was sent to the scene.

The second fire was declared at 2:15 a.m. Jan. 9, when a resident of a three-storey multi-unit complex in the 100 block of Ron Kolbus Private in the Centretown area reported a dryer was on fire in their unit.

Firefighters arrived three minutes after being dispatched and confirmed smoke and flames were rolling across the ceiling on a third-floor unit.

Fire teams began extinguishing the flames and searched the unit for any occupants.

Occupants had safely left the building and an OC Transpo bus was dispatched to provide shelter.

The fire was declared under control at 2:50 a.m. The fire did not spread to any neighbouring units.

The residual smoke was ventilated from the structure.

Three residents were displaced by the fire and required victim assistance.

There were no injuries.
