In this Fantasy Bundesliga article, we’ll highlight 10 players to consider adding to your team ahead of Matchday 6.
As a rule of thumb, we'll try to steer clear of the most obvious picks, instead focusing mainly on players who could offer great value as differentials.
Adrian Gantenbein, Schalke 04 (Defender, 3.56M, 0%)
The 25-year-old was handed a surprise start at right wing-back in Schalke 04's 2-1 defeat to Freiburg last week and picked up an impressive 241 points, providing the assist for Kenan Karaman's goal. Following that performance, Gantenbein should retain his place in the starting XI for a Schalke side facing Mainz and 1. FC Köln in their next two games. Priced at just 3.56 million, he represents another appealing budget option in defence.
Anthony Caci, Mainz (Defender, 9.68M, 2%)
After a relatively quiet start to the season from a fantasy perspective, Caci exploded with a brace in Mainz's 4-3 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last week, racking up an outstanding 415 points. While such a haul is unlikely to be a regular occurrence, the Frenchman is known for his attacking contributions from defence, and his performance should give him plenty of confidence heading into a favourable run of fixtures against Schalke 04, Werder Bremen and Elversberg.
Nico Schlotterbeck, Borussia Dortmund (Defender, 23.79M, 3%)
After being left out of Borussia Dortmund's squad for their Champions League match against Bodø/Glimt on Wednesday, Schlotterbeck is in line to make his return against 1. FC Union Berlin on Saturday. A strong duel-winner, heavily involved in Borussia Dortmund's build-up play and a threat from set pieces, Schlotterbeck offers both a high points floor and the potential for high returns. He demonstrated the latter in last week's 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen, collecting 340 points. The only real downside is his hefty price tag.
Bambasé Conte, Hoffenheim (Midfielder, 6.7M, 9%)
Hoffenheim suffered another disappointing defeat last week, losing 2-3 to Hamburger SV, but Conté certainly wasn't to blame. The German international was highly active throughout the match and found the net twice, although one of his goals was subsequently ruled out for a foul in the build-up. He still managed an excellent 303 points, and with Hoffenheim facing a struggling Borussia Mönchengladbach side next, Conté looks well placed to deliver another productive performance.
Chuki, Werder Bremen (Midfielder, 7.18M, 3%)
After three consecutive solid fantasy performances, scoring 151, 147 and 234 points, Chuki managed just 32 last week as Werder Bremen drew 2-2 with Borussia Dortmund in a match that saw the Green-Whites spend the majority of their time defending. This weekend's home clash with Paderborn should present a very different challenge, however. With Werder expected to enjoy more possession, Chuki could play a key role in unlocking the visitors' defence and looks in line for a much better Fantasy return this week.
Said El Mala, 1. FC Köln (Midfielder, 12.32M, 12%)
El Mala returned to the scoresheet last week, collecting 234 points. He now faces an Eintracht Frankfurt side fresh from conceding six goals against RB Leipzig, before Köln take on Schalke 04 and Union Berlin in their following fixtures. With an appealing run of matches ahead, El Mala looks like an attractive midfield option for the coming weeks.
Can Uzun, Eintracht Frankfurt (Midfielder, 15.99M, 4%)
Eintracht Frankfurt will be looking to bounce back from their disastrous 6-0 defeat to RB Leipzig, which, quite remarkably given the heavy defeat, still saw Can Uzun pick up a respectable 170 points. The attacking midfielder has been very consistent this season, averaging 194 points per game and demonstrating that he's perfectly capable of delivering even when Eintracht don't play well or he's not directly involved in a goal.
Adam Daghim, Hoffenheim (Striker, 9.32M, 8%)
One of Hoffenheim's best-performing and most consistent players this season, Daghim should be a safe bet to start as the Sinsheim-based side look to bounce back against bottom-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach. Given his performances so far and the favourable fixture, he looks like an appealing option up front this week.
Niclas Füllkrug, Werder Bremen (Striker, 12.26M, 7%)
Füllkrug has shown excellent form since returning to Werder Bremen and most recently scored a last-minute equaliser against Borussia Dortmund to extend his scoring streak to four consecutive matches. With newly-promoted Paderborn coming to Bremen this week, the experienced striker looks like a logical player to bring into your squad.
Patrik Schick, Leverkusen (Striker, 19.16M, 12%)
Averaging 205 points per game this season, with 152 points representing his lowest return, Schick has been one of the most reliable options up front so far. The fact that Christian Kofane is set to miss the coming weeks through injury further boosts the Czech striker's appeal, as he should face little competition for his place in the starting XI.
