Kristin Cabot‘s life changed in seconds after a kiss cam moment at Coldplay’s concert thrust her into the center of a global scandal.
What began as an awkward concert clip quickly spiraled into public scrutiny, costing her career and straining her personal life.
Now, one year later, Kristin Cabot is reportedly focused on moving forward. Still, the fallout from the Coldplay kiss cam controversy continues to shape both her personal life and professional future.
Kristin Cabot Is Determined To Rebuild Her Life One Year After Coldplay Kiss Cam Scandal
One year after the Coldplay kiss cam scandal turned her life upside down, Kristin Cabot says she is slowly finding her footing again. The former Astronomer human resources executive admitted she is “still a hot mess,” but believes she is in a much better place than after the viral scandal.
Although Cabot remains unemployed, she revealed she is competing for two senior leadership positions while also serving as an adviser to the nonprofit Pirth.org, which supports victims of online harassment. She said the role has given her a renewed sense of purpose as she works to help others navigate the kind of public scrutiny she experienced.
Looking ahead, Cabot hopes people will eventually recognize her for something far more meaningful than the infamous concert clip. She said her goal is to be remembered for encouraging healthier conversations about online behavior rather than the scandal that made headlines, according to PEOPLE.
The Coldplay Kiss Cam Changed Her Life Overnight
The viral moment that thrust Cabot into the spotlight unfolded during a Coldplay concert in July 2025 while she was attending the event with her then-boss, former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron. She later said she believed Byron’s marriage was ending, much like her own.
After Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked that the pair were either “having an affair” or simply very shy, the clip exploded across social media. The backlash quickly escalated into criticism and online harassment, ultimately leading both Cabot and Byron to leave Astronomer.
Since that time, Cabot has admitted that she made a bad choice, but believes the reaction of the public was more than the mistake itself. The fallout involved death threats, she said, had a tremendous impact on her teenage children and made her reluctant to start dating again, for fear of being identified as “the Coldplay lady.”
Kristin Cabot Says The Scandal Continues To Hurt Her Career
Cabot revealed that months after leaving Astronomer, she is still unable to rebuild her career despite years of experience in human resources. The former executive admitted she is “dying to get back to work” and has yet to secure another job.
Cabot explained that finding employment has become especially urgent because she is raising her children on her own and remains financially responsible for them. She also claimed her former boss, Andy Byron, has received interest from potential employers, while she has faced far greater obstacles returning to work.
The Blast reported that she believes the fallout has affected her differently because she chose to publicly address the scandal instead of remaining silent, saying she had little choice if she wanted to rebuild her career.
The Exec Claims Her Former Boss Wasn’t Honest With Her
Cabot later claimed the relationship was built on false assumptions, alleging that former Astronomer CEO Andy Byron led her to believe he was also separating from his wife. Speaking on Oprah’s podcast, she said there had been “a big miss on honesty and integrity,” adding that lying was a dealbreaker for her.
Although Cabot declined to reveal private details about Byron’s marriage, she said much of what he told her “was not true”. She also confirmed they are no longer in contact, explaining that she felt abandoned after becoming the primary target of the backlash. As previously reported by The Blast, she said Byron remained silent while she faced intense public scrutiny.
Cabot argued that the fallout exposed a double standard, saying her appearance, choices, and character were relentlessly criticized while Byron was able to move on with far less public pressure. She maintained that she has had to explain herself repeatedly to move forward.
Kristin Cabot’s Divorce Marked The End Of A Marriage Already In Trouble
The fallout from the viral Coldplay concert also reached Cabot’s personal life. Less than a month after the incident, she filed for divorce from her husband, Andrew Cabot. However, reports indicated the couple had already been dealing with marital problems before the kiss cam controversy.
While Kristin Cabot moved forward with ending her marriage, there has been no public divorce filing involving her former boss, Andy Byron. Reports claimed Byron’s wife remained by his side after the scandal.
As The Blast previously reported, their different paths continued to fuel discussion. A year later, Cabot appears determined to rebuild both her career and her life.
