Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Mido urges the Lilywhites to make a move for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush in the summer transfer window.

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Mido has pleaded with the Lilywhites to make a move for a prolific Eintracht Frankfurt forward this summer.

After failing to sign a direct replacement for Harry Kane, Lilywhites are expected to be in the market for new attackers ahead of the 2024-25 season, as offers are expected to be entertained for the out-of-favour Bryan Gil.

In addition, Spurs are yet to decide whether to activate their option to sign Timo Werner on a permanent deal from RB Leipzig, in spite of the fact that he has made a positive start to life in North London.

The former Chelsea forward has hinted that he would be open to staying on at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and Ange Postecoglou's side would only need to pay around £15m to keep him on the books.

However, Tottenham are thought to be scoping out alternative wide options in case Werner heads back to Germany and have been linked with Juventus' Samuel Iling-Junior, Barcelona's Raphinha and Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams.

Mido urges Tottenham to move for Omar Marmoush

Alternatively, Mido - who scored 19 goals in 61 appearances for Spurs from 2004 to 2007 - has claimed that the Lilywhites should pursue Eintracht Frankfurt man and fellow Egyptian Omar Marmoush.

The 41-year-old wrote on X - formerly known as Twitter - that he advised Tottenham to make a move for Liverpool's Mohamed Salah while he was representing Basel, but the club did not listen to him.

With Salah now smashing records for fun at Anfield, Mido has issued a personal plea to Daniel Levy to make a move for Marmoush, whom he claims will fit "perfectly" into Postecoglou's system.

"Years ago I advised #Spurs to sign #salah when he was still at #Basil they never listened to me..now I'm telling you plz go for Marmoush he will be great signing will fit in perfectly in Angie's system as a left or right winger..hard worker top professional and can score goals..plz #levy sign #Marmoush from #Frankfurt #COYS," Mido wrote.

Whether Spurs heed Mido's social media plea is yet to be seen, but Marmoush has certainly put himself on the map since leaving Wolfsburg for Frankfurt ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Largely operating through the middle as an out-and-out striker, but also competent as a false nine and on either wing, the 25-year-old has come up with 16 goals and six assists in 37 games for Die Adler in the current season.

Marmoush has netted 11 of his goals in 25 Bundesliga fixtures, making him Frankfurt's top scorer in league action this season, as well as netting four times in the group stage of the Europa Conference League.

The Egypt international has also conjured up five goals and three assists in 31 matches for his country, whom he largely operates off the left for, and he has competed at two Africa Cup of Nations.

A competent dribbler and set-piece taker, Marmoush is under contract at Frankfurt until the summer of 2027, but Arsenal and Liverpool have also been tipped to test the German side's resolve this summer.
