Underwood was crossing an intersection in Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighbourhood when she was hit by a black Ford Explorer SUV, the New York Police Department said.
Underwood was struck by the vehicle and then dragged about two blocks, TMZ reported.
As she was lying in the street, Underwood was then “subsequently struck by a black and grey sedan,” NYPD said in a statement.
Underwood was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe Underwood had left a bodega and crossed the street against the light, and the motorist who struck her may have been unaware of a pedestrian in their path, the New York Post reported.
No arrests had been made in the deadly hit-and-run by Friday afternoon.
Cops say both drivers left the scene. They have not been identified.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Underwood was ‘All That’
As a child, Underwood was best known for appearing in seven episodes of Nickelodeon’s popular sketch comedy show All That in 2005.
Between 1999 and 2004, Underwood voiced Fuschia Glover in the Nick Jr. show Little Bill.
The actor also performed on stage, participating in the first national tour of Hairspray as Little Inez.
All That was Underwood’s last credited role, according to IMDB. The program propelled to stardom the likes of Amanda Bynes, Kenan Thompson and Nick Cannon.
