Rescue workers on the ground in Venezuela following earthquakes
Dana Marie McNicholl reports on the dire situation in Venezuela following two massive 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes, with a death toll of 920 and over 50,000 still missing. Florida volunteers, particularly the Venezuelan community in Doral, are tirelessly collecting and packing humanitarian aid. US military forces from Southern Command, including search and rescue teams, have also arrived on the ground to provide critical assistance.

The wife of former MLB outfielder Gorkys Hernandez was among those killed in the devastating earthquakes that tore through Venezuela earlier in the week.
Hernandez made the heartbreaking revelation about Deisy Maria Tovar De Hernandez in a post on Instagram Saturday.

"Queen of my life you are and will be the most beautiful, beautiful, precious, the best woman in the world, who always in bad times looked for the way to get up, you were and are for me the most beautiful woman of my life," he wrote in the post. "You will always be with me at all times and in every moment, fly high my princess my queen that God has you in his glory and guide me to move forward and lift our family, I love you rest in peace my girl give strength love of my life, because we had a mission but here I am to fulfill it and you taught me to be strong at any moment of life."
Deisy was in Hotel Eduards in La Guaira, Venezuela with many family members of players on the La Guaira Delfines while the team was getting ready to play the Aragua Tigres in a Mexican baseball league contest, according to the New York Post.

Hernandez and his teammates rushed back to the hotel after the game was suspended. He played seven years in the majors with the Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants and others.
Venezuela suffered 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes back-to-back, which caused destruction across the country. More than 1,400 people are reported to have died with another 68,900 missing.
There’s a pile of bodies over there from last night. Newborn babies," Mileidy Romero, who was among those searching Caraballeda for anyone trapped in the rubble. "At 8 p.m. (yesterday) there were people alive down there, and they haven’t bothered to rescue them. We’ve located several bodies, and they haven’t helped us recover them either.
