Enrique backs Bayern & PSG amid rearguard criticism: "If it's a sh*t opinion, you don't have to respect it"

The PSG coach stuck up for both Bayern and his own team after last week's 9-goal thriller at the Parc des Princes.

Paris Saint-Germain's Luis Enrique has hit back at the critics who suggested Bayern's 5-4 defeat to PSG last Tuesday in the Champions League was 'too open' and lacked quality defending. It's safe to say the Parisians' coach leaped to his side and Bayern's defence. 

“That's life, there are opinions everywhere. It's not important to respect every opinion. If it's a sh*t opinion, you don't have to respect it. There are people who like football played like that, they're the majority, and I'm one of them,” the PSG coach said at his latest press conference.

"But some people don't like it. We showed that most people who love football enjoyed the game. When I analyze a game, I usually spend three hours on it, this one took me five hours. There were some incredible plays, both offensively and defensively, from Bayern.

"There wasn't a single poor defensive performance, which is what made this game magnificent. It was a spectacular match from both teams. Especially the attackers; look at how Kane and Dembélé, the two strikers defended. Both players gave everything, everything.

"It was incredible. This is a moment to congratulate both teams and enjoy this match. I think Bayern was the team that offered the most against us, that had the most attacking mindset. They're the strongest opponent I faced during my time at PSG, which is why I'm very happy.

“Your colleague asked me if I was annoyed about going from a 5-2 lead to a 5-4. No, I'm happy to have won against Bayern. We're going to Munich next week to win - but if we lose or draw, it won't be unfair,” the Spaniard said, closing down the debate ahead of the second-leg on Wednesday.
