Elton John announced on his social networks that he suffered a serious eye infection that he had to battle throughout this summer.
"Over the summer, I have been dealing with a serious eye infection that has unfortunately left me with limited vision in one eye," the 77-year-old singer shared in a statement on his Instagram account earlier Tuesday, Page Six reported.
"I am recovering, but it is an extremely slow process and it will be some time before sight returns to the impacted eye," Sir Elton John added.
The "Rocket Man" singer went on to thank his "excellent team of doctors and nurses".
He also expressed gratitude for his family, his husband David Furnish and his sons, Zachary, 13, and Elijah, 11, who "have taken such good care of me over the last few weeks."
Sir Elton John has spent the summer "recuperating at home" and feels positive about the progress "I have made in my healing and recovery so far."
The musician ended the update about his health with a farewell of "love and gratitude."
