Elon Musk has slammed director Alex Gibney as a “bitter old man” with “zero integrity” after the release of Gibney’s four-hour documentary about the tech mogul.
The documentary, titled “Musk,” was billed as a “definitive and unvarnished examination” of the SpaceX boss. However, he fired back, calling it a “hit piece that misses.”
Musk had already been pulled into a social media drama after his former partner, Ashley St. Clair, claimed she turned down a $40 million offer from his team in exchange for not participating in the documentary.
Elon Musk Rages at Alex Gibney After Critical Documentary Premiere
The outspoken billionaire launched a furious public tirade against Alex Gibney following the premiere of “Musk,” an unflinching four-hour documentary examining his life, power, and global political influence at the Venice Film Festival.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the platform he acquired for $44 billion in 2022, the tech billionaire dismissed the documentary. He also attacked the director’s personal and professional credibility, calling him a “bitter old man” who has “zero integrity.”
Responding to a post reporting that the documentary promotes a conspiracy theory that he used “space lasers” to steal the election for Donald Trump, Musk said Gibney “is such an idiot.”
In a viral clip shared on the platform, Gibney claimed at the Venice Film Festival that Musk’s story in tech wasn’t new, but “an old wine in a new bottle.” He also claimed Musk didn’t champion the technology behind reusable rockets because it was old, adding that Musk only made it cheaper.
“Dogsh-t is worth more respect than Gibney,” Musk responded, adding in a second post: “Gibney has zero integrity. Zero. Fortunately, his movies are boring af.”
Elon Musk Slams Documentary As A ‘Hit Piece’
ZUMAPRESS.com / MEGAMusk also criticized the award-winning filmmaker over what he believed was Gibney’s intention in making the documentary, calling it a “hit piece.”
Commenting on a post that questioned the people interviewed in the film, Musk said, “Gibney just assembled a hit list of people who either have an axe to grind or don’t even know me (but still have an axe to grind).”
He then slammed Gibney for having “ZERO integrity,” adding that he’s a “Horrible human.”
“Gibney deliberately set out to make a hit piece and lacks any integrity whatsoever,” he added in another comment.
- The tech billionaire used his platform to promote the anti-immigration Armie Hammer film.
- Musk picked issues with Anne Hathaway amid his brutal takedown of Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey.”
- Musk was blasted for his views on the blockbuster film.
- He shared his regrets about aligning with Donald Trump, saying he “got carried away.”
- Musk’s baby mama, Ashley St. Clair, said $40 million couldn’t buy her silence.
- He said he wants to outdo “The Odyssey” with an “historically accurate” AI version of the original poem.
Musk Denies Former Partner’s $40 Million NDA Claim

Among them is an interview with former partner Ashley St. Clair, who alleges that Musk’s team offered her $40 million to sign a non-disclosure agreement regarding their relationship.
Musk directly denied the NDA claim on X, writing, “She was never offered that and has a history of making false claims.”
He also amplified a claim by podcaster Katie Miller about the alleged absence of Musk’s close associates and allies from a documentary supposedly about him.
“It simply can’t be ‘definitive’ if the people who were present didn’t participate,” she said. “This fictional movie is a hit job by a self-obsessed Hollywood director.”
Musk’s Lawyers Threaten to Sue Alex Gibney
GOL/Capital Pictures / MEGAMusk’s attorneys, led by Alex Spiro, threatened to file a defamation lawsuit against Gibney over claims made in the film, per NPR.
They reportedly sent a legal notice to Gibney’s production company, accusing the film of misrepresenting facts and pushing conspiracy theories, specifically regarding Musk’s use of Starlink during elections.
The issue centered on a purported text Musk sent to St. Clair before the November 2024 election. In it, the tech mogul said he was “feeling more optimistic” about Donald Trump emerging as the winner because “tomorrow we unleash the anomaly in the matrix.”
When she pressed him to explain what he meant, he said he planned to tap “Lasers from space,” adding, “I have over 10 thousand lasers in space right now.”
Alex Spiro Doubles Down on Starlink Defense
Mayer/ MEGAIn his letter, Spiro referenced a previously debunked conspiracy theory alleging that Musk’s SpaceX Starlink satellites had uploaded votes in swing states for Trump.
“Starlink was not connected to vote tabulation. Election officials in multiple states, independent cybersecurity researchers, and fact-checkers publicly refuted the Starlink vote-rigging claim in November 2024, and nothing since has revived it,” Spiro wrote.
“Starlink’s satellites communicate by laser inter-satellite link; that is what ‘lasers in space’ describes,” he continued. “You are therefore on notice, before release, that the insinuation is false, that the material refuting it is public, and that you chose not to be told the rest.”
