Elle Macpherson, the iconic supermodel who once graced the world's biggest runways, has made a shocking revelation: she was diagnosed with breast cancer seven years ago but refused chemotherapy, even after 32 doctors strongly recommended it. In her upcoming memoir, Elle: Life, Lessons, and Learning to Trust Yourself, Macpherson opens up about her journey from diagnosis to recovery. After undergoing a lumpectomy, the Aussie beauty was diagnosed with HER2-positive estrogen receptor intraductal carcinoma, a type of breast cancer known for its aggressive nature.

Doctors advised her to undergo a mastectomy, radiation, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy, but Macpherson chose a different path. "It was a shock, it was unexpected, it was confusing," she said in an interview with Women's Weekly. "But it gave me an opportunity to dig deep and find a solution that worked for me."

Elle's unconventional path

That solution involved rejecting traditional cancer treatments in favor of an intuitive, heart-led, holistic approach. This decision did not sit well with her loved ones or medical professionals, who feared for her health.

"Saying no to standard medical solutions was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life. But saying no to my own inner sense would have been even harder," explained Macpherson, 60.

Elle's alternative treatment plan involved renting a house in Phoenix, Arizona, where she devoted every minute to healing herself. Her holistic regimen focused on addressing both emotional and physical aspects of her diagnosis, a method she believes was key to her remission.

However, not everyone is convinced. Dr. Martin Scurr, a retired UK physician, expressed concerns about Macpherson's approach. "What worries me is that Elle will be seen as an example of the way forward for treating cancer," Scurr wrote in *The Daily Mail*. "We would be wrong not to be cautious: the story is not over yet."

Her family supported her no matter what

Macpherson's sons, Flynn, 26, and Cy, 21, had mixed reactions to their mother's decision. Cy, the younger of the two, feared chemo would kill her, calling it "a kiss of death." Flynn, on the other hand, was uncomfortable with her choice but stood by her regardless. "He would support me through anything, even if he didn't agree with them,"Macpherson said.
