Ella Langley is not just shrugging off the criticism.

The rising country singer has sent out her response to the haters who have allegedly been nitpicking her looks and deeds as she continues to soar in the industry. The artist has taken time to take it all in, as the success still feels like a dream.

The backlash at Ella Langley comes after her “Choosin’ Texas” single surpassed Mariah Carey’s Billboard Hot 100 record for the longest-running number-one song.

Langley addressed the hate she has faced over the past year during her Concert in Ohio. Speaking to her fans on Friday at the Columbus venue, the singer said that over the past year, she has heard many hurtful things about herself and different aspects of her life from various sources.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had more opinions on myself in my life than I have in this last year,” she noted, adding that she had been criticized “the way I look, the way I speak, the way I dress, the way I move, the way I sing [and] the way I write.”

The country singer then admitted that, initially, she was “bothered” by the constant negativity, which began to weigh her down and make her doubt herself.

“I was like, ‘What am I going to do about this? If this is what I’m signing up to do, I don’t know about this. I signed up to sing music, and I love to do what I do, but if this is what it’s going to be the whole entire time, I mean sh-t, I don’t know if I’m strong enough for this,’” she told her audience during the concert, as seen in a TikTok clip.

Langley paved the way for her success in the industry, but she went through a rough path to achieve her goals. She was raised in Hope Hull, Alabama, taught herself guitar, cut her teeth playing local bars and weddings, and wrote country music.

Giving fans a glimpse into her success story, Langley said, “The girl that they’re kind of picking on is the girl that got me where I’m sitting here today.” She went on to reveal a time in her life when she struggled to survive while staying focused on her dream.

In her words, “That’s the girl that rode in a 15-passenger van night after night after night. She rode in a Honda Accord night after night after night, chased her dream, living on bar food, living on tip jar money.”

Langley ended her speech declaring that she was “proud of that girl that everybody seems to be picking on all the time.”

Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas’ grew from a country single by a rising artist into a chart-topping hit. It surpassed Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which spent 22 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100.

The 27-year-old musician filmed her reaction to her latest success in an Instagram video, expressing that she was genuinely shocked by the news. “I’m genuinely trying to find the words to help explain what’s going on in my brain today,” she said, still in utter disbelief.

Langley then thanked her fans and listeners for their support before turning the camera to her dog, who ran excitedly in the background.

That was not Langley’s first musical win of the year. The Blast reported that earlier this year, “Choosin’ Texas” also beat Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Getting Back Together” for the most weeks at No. 1 by a female country artist.

The Singer Reportedly Struggles With Imposter Syndrome

In the same celebratory video, the artist revealed that her record-breaking achievement did not “feel like a real thing,” adding, “it feels fake,” and that it felt more like a prank.

According to The Boot, Langley has admitted in the past that she suffers from imposter syndrome. It is a condition in which someone doubts their accomplishments and feels like they’re a fraud, even when they’ve earned their success.

The musician has also dealt with mental health issues fueled by her rise to the top in the industry. Despite this, she admitted, “It’s really cool to be me right now,” in an interview with Country Countdown USA after her single hit the top, before advising fans to follow their passion.

Ella Langley Recently Stepped Out Of Her Comfort Zone

Langley recently showed her fans there is more to her than just her talent. She showed a different side of herself, beyond her musicality, when she interacted closely with several exotic animals. The Blast reported that in a video shared on social media, the singer was seen with a parrot perched on her shoulder, nibbling on her ear, before sitting beside a baby kangaroo.

“This is facing my fears a little bit,” she said as she tried to hold an Argentine boa. Langley, who initially appeared nervous, became comfortable holding the reptile as it crawled on her arms and shoulders.

The country artist then played with a lemur, while others held and played with several other animals. Langley seemed to enjoy her day with the animals, full of smiles, jokes, and laughs as she declared “I love today,” at the end of the clip.

Mariah Carey has yet to comment on Ella Langley surpassing her record.
