Dortmund issue fresh update on Karetsas after incident against Villarreal

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed the reason for Konstantinos Karetsas’ first-half substitution against Villarreal.

Konstantinos Karetsas had to be substituted before the half-hour mark against Villarreal in the opening matchday of the UEFA Champions League. While there was initial fear about a serious injury amongst fans, the club has now communicated the real reason behind the incident.

According to the official statement, Karetsas had to leave the game due to circulation problems. They also confirmed he’s doing well given the circumstances as he is heading to hospital for further examinations.

The Greek international started his Dortmund spell positively, but he could now face some time off the pitch based on the assessment. Ethan Nwaneri replaced him to make his second appearance for the club.
