Dortmund demolished as Stuttgart score five

Arguably the most anticipated game of Bundesliga Matchday 4 pitted VfB Stuttgart against Borussia Dortmund this evening. Nuri Sahin's visitors were swept aside as Stuttgart ran out 5-1 winners.

The game sprang to life in the 4th-minute as all of Stuttgart erupted when Deniz Undav opened the scoring. Maxi Mittelstädt split the Dortmund high line with a precise pass which his compatriot clipped over Schlotterbeck and to the net via the post. Stuttgart's onslaught continued and Hoeneß' side doubled their lead in the 21st-minute. Leweling skipped past Sabitzer to find Mittelstädt. The full-back put the ball in the perfect position for Ermedin Demirović to head home. 

In truth, it could have been a whole lot worse for BVB but for Kobel's fine saves to repel Millot and Undav again. An injury to Felix Nmecha provided some respite for Şahin's men to catch their breath. The replacement, the lively Jamie Gittens, forced the Turkish manager into a tactical change as Die Schwarzgelben switched to 4-2-3-1 setup and briefly improved. It may have stemmed the bleeding however the damage couldn't be reversed from that first-half. 

Two further alterations arrived as Sahin reverted to the 3-4-2-1 with Couto and Bensebaini replacing Adeyemi and Ryerson. A brief period of control for the Rührpott club was extinguished when Stuttgart constructed a 3-0 lead. Mittelstädt to the fore again as his cross was redirected by Karazor for Millot to tap in. 

Dortmund bagged a consolation goal through Serhou Guirassy who arrived from Stuttgart in the summer. Gittens set the striker free to get past Zagadou and thread the ball beneath Nübel. Ultimately, any sniff of a comeback was extinguished when Millot led the BVB defence on a merry dance up the end line. The French midfielder's cut back was met by El Bilal Touré who managed to finish past Anton on the line. It became a five-star performance as Millot fed Undav to bag his brace in stoppage time.
