It’s not a huge boast but for an expansion team and playing some of the more established teams in the league through the early part of the schedule and beating them is something of which they can certainly be proud.

The Seattle Storm arrived in Toronto a little beaten up and like a good team the Tempo took advantage building on a slim half-time lead with a dominant third quarter and then winning going away by a score of 93-72.
As usual on a successful day for the Tempo, veterans Marina Mabrey and Brittney Sykes were front and centre with 18 and 15 points respectively, but on this afternoon the offence was much more spread out.
Rookie point guard Kiki Rice finished with 17 while forward Laura Juskaite had 14 and Maria Conde another 13 off the bench in an offence that was far too spread out to defend easily.
The Storm, down Dominique Malonga who was out with a concussion and Ezi Magbegor who has a right foot issue didn’t have their normal size in this one, and while they still beat up on the Tempo in the paint, had no answer for the Tempo from the mid-range and long distance.
Most glaring on the post-game stat sheet was a dominant day for the Tempo at the free throw line where they were a perfect 31-for-31 before Teonni Key missed two in the final minute of the game to finish up at 31-for-33.
Toronto improved to 5-4 with the win. Next up for the Tempo is a road game in New York on Wednesday.
