New police records show that the days leading up to Darrell Sheets’ death were times of emotional distress for him. The ex “Storage Wars” star left a handwritten suicide note referencing the bullying on Facebook, and those close to him described that he was under pressure and for months he had severe insomnia.

Authorities also found evidence of increasing family conflict prior to the tragedy. Sheets’ girlfriend told detectives he argued with his son recently over “family drama,” the report said. The argument escalated so much that she had to leave the house due to the yelling, she said, adding that Sheets said he didn’t want to be left alone with his son.

The report further states that the situation worsened after Sheets allegedly received text messages from his daughter-in-law accusing his girlfriend of suspicious behavior and stealing money, leaving him visibly shaken.

His girlfriend described him as deeply stressed but insisted he never spoke about harming himself and said their relationship remained strong before his death. The newly released police records were first obtained and reported by TMZ.

Autopsy Report Reveals No Drugs In Darrell Sheets’ System

Autopsy findings have shed new light on what Sheets’ physical condition was before his death. He was screened for a number of controlled substances, and no drugs were detected in his system after toxicology testing.

The report also documented several of the former “Storage Wars” star’s tattoos, including designs featuring a woman, the number 58, a joker, and a checkered flag. Investigators described Sheets as a “well-developed, well-nourished adult male.” 

On April 22, the Mohave County Medical Examiner concluded Sheets died by suicide after allegedly having taken his own life with a gunshot wound. The autopsy findings were used to support the investigators’ findings and confirm there were no drugs found involved, The Blast reported.

Investigators concluded Sheets’ death was a suicide, but also confirmed they were looking into alleged online harassment of Sheets in the weeks before his death.

A&E also attributed him being a “Storage Wars” favorite and condoled with his family. Throughout his tenure on the show, the network discussed the effects Sheets had on the series. As news of his death spread, several of his colleagues spread similar messages, as reported by The Blast.

Fans also gathered on Sheets’ final Facebook post, filling the comments with condolences and messages celebrating “The Gambler” for the years of entertainment he brought to “Storage Wars.” Many thanked him for the memories he created, while others said they hoped he would rest in peace.
