James Gunn is a genius. We know that it has been said many a time for the veteran director but Gunn finds a way of proving himself countless times over and over again.
This time, the director is getting recognition and acknowledgment for sliding in a joke aimed at a Marvel character in one of his DC projects. We can’t say for sure about the MCU but it seems that Ghost Rider may have joined the DCU!
James Gunn’s Creature Commandos makes a joke about a Marvel character!
It has been quite some time since the two cinematic universes have clashed horns. Although the hardcore DC and Marvel fans are always at war with one another, the jokes have rarely made it onto the big screen.
With James Gunn being the co-head of DC Studios, the director has worked with Marvel Studios in the past with his Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Naturally, one or two Marvel jokes in a DCU project are expected of Gunn.
During episode 7 of the animated show Creature Commandos, a joke was made by The Bride which was aimed at Doctor Phosphorus. Now, Doc Phosphorus looks very similar to Ghost Rider with a flame over his skull and the whole thing.
In one of their conversations, The Bride states “Can it, Ghost Rider” while referring to Doctor Phosphorus. It has been quite a while since these cross-cinematic universe jokes have been made and fans are loving it. However, this isn’t the only joke that James Gunn is allegedly planning to make on Marvel Studios.
Marvel’s Josh Brolin is allegedly switching sides!
Although it might be just a bit of harmless fun, Josh Brolin, who is known for portraying the role of Thanos in the MCU, may have hinted at something bigger. A fan art was recently made of Josh Brolin as Darkseid and was shared on the internet.
According to Cosmic Book News, Brolin decided to take things one step further as he apparently took note of the fan art. The actor may not have been able to help himself as Brolin reposted the art on his Instagram story.
The fun part is that Josh Brolin was offered the role of Hal Jordan in the DCU show Lanterns, a part which he denied. After a while, rumors spread that Brolin was allegedly in talks to join the DCU in a pivotal role. The actor’s timings couldn’t be better as the Sicario star posted the story around the same time.
If this were to indeed happen, James Gunn might just have the last laugh with Josh Brolin joining the DCU as Darkseid. It would be a feast for the eyes to see Brolin take on this challenging role but nothing can be confirmed or denied at the moment.
Creature Commandos currently stand at a rating of 7.9/10 on IMDb and a whopping high of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. With some Marvel jokes in the way, the iconic show is available to stream on Max in the U.S.
