Costco issues another recall

Recall for shades follow recent series of callbacks for vitamins, shampoo and more.

Costco in Canada has once again issued a recall, this time for window shades that may pose a choking hazard to kids.

The wholesaler issued a recall for the Bali Springs Cellular shades with the model number BC23, which were sold on Costco.ca between Jan. 1, 2025, and April 9 of this year, Costco said. The product label can be found on the top of the headrail of the shades, with its model number and manufacture date.

“Springs Window Fashions is recalling certain model numbers of the Springs Cellular Shades as products do not meet the corded window coverings regulations and may pose a choking hazard,” a notice on Costco’s website says. “The end caps on the bottom rail may not be glued and can release small parts that present a choking hazard to young children.

“Members should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Springs Window Fashions if the end caps on the bottom rail are not securely glued. If the endcap detaches, a glue kit with instructions will be provided by the vendor.”

Costco added that customers can return the item for a full refund.

More recalls

The latest product recall follows recent Costco recalls for Kirkland women’s vitamin tablets after a metal object was found in one of the bottles. They sold between February and May this year, with the number 5J46568W7 found on the neck of the bottle and the expiry date of Feb. 2028. The Costco item number is 7013050.

Another recall includes certain kinds of the Renpure Tea Tree & Rosemary Scalp Rebalancing Shampoo and Conditioner with the item number 8434044. Look for the lot codes 2603C065 and 2604C066 at the bottom of the bottle.

“Out of an abundance of caution, these specific lot codes are being recalled, as some individuals may experience mild skin irritation or sensitivity,” the notice said.
