Bayern have already confirmed their thirty-fifth German championship title, a full thirteen points clear of second-place Borussia Dortmund with a match in hand and two matches remaining in the season.

Wolfsburg, on the other hand, are third from the bottom of the table and currently in the relegation playoff spot. While they cannot completely avoid direct relegation, a win by any margin would make it tougher for them to drop, as in this case, seventeenth-place FC St. Pauli would need to defeat Dieter Hecking’s Wölfe by three or more at Millerntor-Stadion next Saturday, dependent on the margin of this match.
