Officers were conducting high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lane enforcement on Friday afternoon when they noticed something wasn’t right.

Provincial police say a driver had a coat set up in the front passenger seat to simulate another passenger while the vehicle was travelling westbound on the QEW in Burlington.

The hood of the puffy coat was over the headrest while one of the sleeves was held upright using the sun visor.

Vehicles with more than one occupant are able to access the HOV lanes for a swifter trip.

In an X post on Monday, police said a 21-year-old woman from Burlington, whose name was not released, was charged with a high-occupancy vehicle lane violation.
