CNN's Alisyn Camerota announces death of husband 2 years after pancreatic cancer diagnosis

CNN's Alisyn Camerota announced that her husband, Tim Lewis, died in July, two years after he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He was 58.

Camerota, former co-anchor of CNN's "New Day," "CNN Newsroom," and current political commentator, posted an Instagram post on Friday sharing the news.

"I cannot imagine any human being soldiering through a devastating diagnosis with more humor, humility and bravery than Tim," Camerota wrote. "He was a phenomenal father, husband, friend and role model and the rest of us are left trying to follow in his footsteps."

Camerota revealed that this month would have been their 23rd wedding anniversary.

"I feel incredibly lucky to have had such a deep, committed, loving partnership for the time we had," she wrote.

Camerota and Lewis share three children together, twin daughters Ale and Cessa, and son Nate, according to his obituary.

Lewis was committed to community service throughout his life, volunteering at homeless shelters and donating to education and scholarship funds, according to his obituary. His family set up a fund in his memory "to help other families enduring a similar struggle," Camerota said.

Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Lewis attended Yale University and went on to have a successful career in private equity and business consulting.

Camerota said she and the children are still getting their bearings after losing Lewis, and trying to emulate the strength and stability he inspired them with.

"I plan to write more in the coming days and to be back at work in the next few weeks," Camerota wrote. "Thank you all for your love and letters, trays of lasagna, and the many, many gestures of kindness."
