Alexander Nübel will be part of Germany’s World Cup squad, according to both Bild and Sky Germany.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper, who has spent the last three seasons on loan at VfB Stuttgart from Bayern Munich, is expected to serve as backup to Manuel Neuer and Oliver Baumann.

Unless the injury Neuer suffered against 1. FC Köln at the weekend proves to be serious, the 40-year-old is set to be Germany’s starting goalkeeper.

According to Bild, Bayern Munich’s Jonas Urbig will also travel with the DFB team to help out in training.

Augsburg’s Finn Dahmen and Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu, meanwhile, are expected to miss out.

Julian Nagelsmann’s full Germany squad will be announced on Thursday.
