Chuck Lorre’s Two and a Half Men might’ve been the comedy that embraced every cringe-worthy moment, but guess what? It holds a record that even TV giants like The Wire and Better Call Saul couldn’t come close to. While the latter shows have earned critical acclaim, Two and a Half Men managed to carve out its own unique slice of TV history.

With its offbeat humor, questionable life lessons, and a revolving door of Charlie Sheen antics, this sitcom somehow outlasted and outnumbered some of the most respected names in television. It’s a bit wild, but hey, sometimes being outrageous pays off! Who knew immature humor could land such an unbeatable streak?

Two and a Half Men Outshines The Wire and Better Call Saul in Emmy Wins: A Lighthearted Sitcom’s Surprising Awards Dominance

Two and a Half Men might not have been the grittiest or most intense show on TV, but it certainly left a mark that even legendary shows like The Wire and Better Call Saul couldn’t match. When it comes to Emmys, the hit CBS sitcom took home 9 wins out of its 46 Primetime Emmy nominations—an achievement neither of those acclaimed dramas can claim.

Despite The Wire being hailed as one of the greatest TV shows ever made, it was only nominated for two Emmys and walked away empty-handed. Even Better Call Saul, a spin-off to the award-magnet Breaking Bad, couldn’t break the curse—53 nominations and still no wins.

Premiering in 2003, Two and a Half Men starred Charlie Sheen, Jon Cryer, and Angus T. Jones, and became a fan favorite for its offbeat humor. It’s hard to ignore the show’s massive success, with Emmy wins including accolades for Cryer and Kathy Bates. Meanwhile, The Wire and Better Call Saul, despite their critical acclaim and cult status, couldn’t replicate this awards success.

Two and a Half Men snagged wins for Jon Cryer and Kathy Bates, proving that even a lighthearted sitcom can crush the awards game. Love it or hate it, Chuck Lorre’s creation knew how to stand out where it counts.

Charlie Sheen no longer raking in Two and a Half Men cash after selling his rights

Charlie Sheen’s no longer cashing in on Two and a Half Men reruns, and it’s worse than you think. After being fired from the hit sitcom for his infamous behavior, Sheen still made bank through royalties, raking in a cool $100M. But in 2016, he sold his rights for just $27M—a decision that came back to haunt him (via Market Realist).

With Two and a Half Men once attracting over 14M viewers, Sheen was one of the highest-paid actors on TV, earning $1.8M per episode. But after losing his royalty stream, his monthly income dropped from $600k to just $167k. Adding to the chaos, Sheen found himself $12M in debt. The golden goose is long gone for Sheen, and it’s not looking like it’ll come back anytime soon.
