Since Chris Evans’ return as Johnny Storm in Deadpool & Wolverine, fans have been speculating if he’ll be open to return as Captain America in the upcoming Avengers duology. But fans aren’t alone in it, as Marvel veteran Ross Marquand has also been hammering the idea of Captain America’s return, but not exactly for a big Avengers showdown.

Considering that Cap’s journey of returning the Infinity Stones is left up to fans’ imagination, Marquand has been adamant about exploring that story, potentially in a Disney Plus series.

While Marquand has tackled various Marvel roles, ranging from Professor X in X-Men ’97 to voicing Ultron in Marvel’s What If…?, his most notable Marvel experience remains his tenure as Red Skull. Due to Hugo Weaving‘s refusal to reprise his Captain America gig for the Endgame duology, Ross Marquand was brought in to serve as Red Skull in Infinity War and Endgame.

Reflecting on the character’s future, The Walking Dead star honed the idea of Cap’s archnemesis’ potential return in a movie about Steve Rogers returning the Infinity Stones.

I also thought it would be really interesting to make a standalone movie with Cap returning all the stones. Because when he jumps into the time machine at the end of Endgame, he’s gone for a second and then comes back as an old man. But I think it would be really interesting to see what happens each time he returns those stones. And that would be a fascinating movie in and of itself, I think. I hope [Red Skull] does [return].

While there has been no movement in that idea yet, the actor hasn’t given up, as during his appearance at the Edmonton ExpoVia (@GrahamMosimann), the actor revealed that he has continued to pitch that idea at Disney as a potential Disney Plus series.

We’ve been wanting this so badly since the end credits of Endgame

It would be the first Marvel TV show I would be interested in

This is a show that we actually want to watch. Give us what we want cowards.

Considering that the MCU’s TV sides of things are yet to pick up the pace, a show about Chris Evans exploring the multiverse as Captain America does sound promising.

Ross Marquand Filmed His Red Skull Scenes at an Unprecedented Pace

Although it remains to be seen if the idea garners heat at Disney headquarters anytime soon, for Ross Marquand, the experience of filming his Red Skull scenes was unlike anything he ever experienced. While we see the character return in both Infinity War and Endgame, the X-Men ’97 star revealed that the entirety of his scenes were done in the span of eight hours.

It was a helluva of a way to work… I think we finished it in eight hours – both films, back-to-back, in one day. I mean that’s unheard of.

But despite the extremity of the filming’s pace, Marquand heavily enjoyed his tenure as Red Skull, sharing that he loved that style of shooting.

Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame Are Available to Stream on Disney Plus.
