Chloe Bailey Reflects On New Chapter In Her Career: ‘Feels Really Nice Being Delusional’

Singer Chloe Bailey rose to fame alongside her sister, Halle Bailey, as part of the R&B duo Chloe x Halle. Today, though, Chloe is doing things solo, taking on acting roles and releasing new music on her own. Last night was much the same, as the “Swarm” performer attended the MTV VMAs alone and spoke with the media about the next chapter of her career. In addition to releasing new tracks in the coming months, Chloe said she’s also experiencing a renaissance and doing everything she once thought she couldn’t.

“We are in the resurrection era,” Chloe told E! News on September 27, adding that she’s taking risks she thinks will benefit her in the long run.

“It feels really nice being delusional. And I will continue to be delulu until it gets me to the top,” she shared before revealing how she stays motivated to keep reaching for more.

“Believing in myself, never doubting anything, and knowing I’m number one,” she said. “It’s time for me to put insecurities, anything to the side, any outer validation. As long as I’m happy with it and proud, I will put it out.”

Chloe showcased this new side of herself on the VMAs red carpet, popping out in a form-fitting, sparkling gown with skin cutouts.

“I wanted to shine this inner light on the outside, and it’s [the] VMAs,” Chloe said about her head-turning new look. “I’ve been keeping my carpets really like fashion, and when it comes to showing the body, safe a little bit, so tonight we were like, ‘Let’s show a little skin.'”

And while she made headlines, her clothes weren’t the only change she made to her appearance. The “Have Mercy” singer also bleached her eyebrows; a move she said gives “music Chloe a little edge.”

For some, Chloe stepping out in a new look might not have been surprising, considering she appeared on the BET Awards red carpet sporting a blonde hairdo, per The Blast.

The “Treat Me” singer said she was “tired” of being “serious” about everything, so to lighten the mood, she dyed her hair bleach blonde after getting inspiration from comic book characters.

“I just love how sexy and feminine and colorful the superheroes are in there,” she said before calling some routines “boring.”

And speaking of switching routines, Chloe has recently expanded her portfolio by appearing in different TV works, including “Swarm,” “The Proud Family,” and “Strung.”

And while she’s still making music, Chloe credited acting with helping her become even better at her primary job, saying the craft has forced her to be vulnerable and dig deeper to find meaning.

“I feel like acting is getting me there more and more because you tell the story of someone else that has nothing to do with you. And there’s beauty in the rawness,” she said, according to The Blast.

Regarding music, Chloe teased her third studio album on the VMA red carpet and encouraged fans to stream her latest mixtape, “Resurrection,” while they wait.

“Resurrection,” featuring the iconic music producer Timbaland, was released on June 19, 2026, and has 13 R&B and alternative pop tracks.

In a previous interview, Chloe said she released the project intentionally and invited fans to take the same pride in it as she did.

“I created this mixtape with Timberland… and we’re releasing it on Juneteenth! It’s a celebration of the beauty within our community and our power that we hold within our skin, but also he has been such a prominent figure within the music industry,” she said. “And I’ve been so inspired by him and Missy Elliott. Like I’ve never been shy of crediting them for the producer that I am.”
