Celtic to hijack OGC Nice deal for Frankfurt defender

Nkounkou first joined Frankfurt in August 2023 for €7.5million but is now deemed surplus to requirements at the Hessen club.

According to sources at Fussball Transfers, Celtic FC are making a strong push for Eintracht Frankfurt's Niels Nkounkou.

The reigning Scottish champions are pursuing a quick deal in a bid to hijack OGC Nice's efforts to sign the 25-year-old.

As the outlet understands, the Ligue 1 club had already reached an agreement with Nkounkou regarding a transfer.

However, the Côte d'Azur club would only finalize the deal once Melvin Bard's departure was confirmed.

With the other deal stalling, the Glasgow-based out now apparently intends to capitalize on Nice's hesitation.

During the 2025-26 campaign, the French defender featured 14 times on loan for Torino where he produced one assist.
