Bremen's Weserstadion to operate at reduced capacity for two home games

The partial collapse of seats in Block 53 has forced the club to cordon off that area of the ground for their opening two Bundesliga home games.

Sky Germany have confirmed that Werder Bremen will begin the new 2026-27 Bundesliga season with reduced stadium capacity.

The reason for this planned attendance reduction is the partial collapse of a section in the upper tier three weeks ago in early July.

In the first two Bundesliga home games against RB Leipzig and FC Augsburg, approximately 500 seats will therefore be unusable. 

"We're not planning for the season opener. We're also not planning for the second home game," said managing director Hans-Jörg Otto. 

“But heading toward the third home game, we believe we'll be able to fully utilize and open Block 53 again by then.”

The season ticket holders seated in Block 53 are to be relocated to seats that were designated for day-ticket sales instead.
