Brampton teen wanted on nationwide warrant for attempted murder

Cops say Kaleb Kimotho, 19, wanted for April 6 shooting in Bramalea, considered 'armed and dangerous'

A nationwide warrant has been issued for a 19-year-old Brampton man accused of attempted murder.

Peel Regional Police issued the notice on Tuesday evening identifying Kaleb Kimotho as a suspect accused of a lunchtime shooting incident on April 6 in the Bramalea neighbourhood of Brampton.

“He should be considered armed and dangerous,” police said in a news release. “Members of the public are advised not to approach and to call 911 immediately if seen.

“Investigators are urging Kimotho to seek legal counsel and surrender to police.”

Victims now in stable condition

Police said two victims were sitting inside a vehicle near 1020 Central Park Dr. just before noon, when Kimotho and a second suspect entered the vehicle and allegedly fired a gun from the inside as it began to drive away.

Both victims – reportedly 21-year-old and 25-year-old men – were struck and suffered serious injuries, one of them life-threatening at the time.

Const. Laurie McCann said that victim’s condition was eventually upgraded to stable, while the other victim’s wounds were considered non-life-threatening at the time of the shooting.

A 19-year-old man was arrested on the same day of the incident after a brief foot pursuit and charged with attempted murder using a firearm, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, a drug-possession offence and five other gun crimes, the Brampton Guardian reported.

Accused facing six charges

Kimotho, meanwhile, is wanted for attempted murder using a firearm, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing it is unauthorized and possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.

He is described as a Black male who is about 5-foot-8 and 130 pounds. He has short, black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion.

A photo of Kimotho was not available.
