Halton Regional Police said they investigated a series of break-ins at Milton Hobbies on Main St. E. that began in May. They said the business was broken into on four separate occasions, resulting in property damage and about $14,000 worth of merchandise being stolen.

The 1 District criminal investigations bureau took over the investigation and identified a suspect who they believe is allegedly responsible for three of the break-ins.

Police said they executed a search warrant on Wednesday at a residence in Brampton and on an associated vehicle. “Multiple” remote-controlled vehicles and accessories were allegedly recovered.

Sahilpreet Dhaliwal, 25, was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and three counts of break and enter.

“The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing in Milton,” police said. “The investigation is ongoing and further arrests are anticipated.”

Cops probing hit-and-run in North York

A driver who had exited their vehicle was hospitalized with serious injuries after being hit by oncoming traffic in North York.

Toronto Police said officers responded to reports of a person being struck by a vehicle in the Jane St.-Falstaff Ave. area, near Hwys. 400 and 401, before 5 p.m. after they had gotten out of their own vehicle.

The injured driver was hospitalized with serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle did not remain at the scene and is being sought by police.

They said to expect traffic delays in the area and to consider alternate routes.
