Rather surprisingly, Borussia Dortmund have decided to leave captain Emre Can out of their squad for the league phase of the Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund have submitted their squad for the league phase of the Champions League to UEFA.
Still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in the spring, captain Emre Can has remarkably been left out of the squad.
It was thought that the veteran could be an option later in the first half of the season, but BVB apparently don't see that as realistic.
New signings Giannis Konstantelias, who suffered a torn ACL last week, and Jefferson Lerma were also not included in the squad. BVB coach Niko Kovac recently said that patience will be needed with the latter as he continues to acclimatize following his move from Ecuadorian side Independiente.
“He still needs time, and that’s completely normal,” Kovac said.
In addition to the official squad list, Borussia Dortmund can use several youth players through UEFA’s B list, with the following youngsters registered: Mathis Albert, Samuele Inacio, Luca Reggiani, Miguel Adje and Jan Luca Riedl.
