The former Black Eyed Peas member was in Vancouver to take part in the recent Web Summit Vancouver, a major global technology conference that brings together international entrepreneurs, investors, startups, and tech leaders.

According to the Web Summit website, the Grammy-winning Lindo is “transforming the Philippines via the world’s largest reforestation project. Planting 380M+ trees, he’s blending agroforestry with carbon credits to fight climate change and empower rural communities.”

Apl.de.ap had previously been in Vancouver last year as one of the headlining performers at the Lapu- Lapu Fesitval, where tragedy struck on April 26, 2025 as a vehicle-rammed through the cultural celebration killing 11 people and injuring dozens more.

He was joined by fellow musician J-Reyw for that performance. The two artists had just left the main stage of the event where they led the festival’s entertainment offering before a black SUV sped through a pedestrian-only area at the Filipino community celebrations in south Vancouver.

Apl.de.ap and J-Rey, also a member of Black Eyed Peas, issued a joint statement on Instagram after the event: “Hearts are broken for the victims, their families, and everyone affected by the tragedy at the Lapu-Lapu Festival.”

“J-Rey and I had just finished performing and left the stage minutes before it happened,” Apl.de. ap shared in the post.
