Saudi Arabian outlet Arriyadiyah recently suggested that Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl had held talks with Al-Ittihad over a possible role as sporting director at the club.

However, Eberl firmly dismissed the report at a press conference on Friday.

“I thought about answering jokingly. But then I wasn’t sure everyone would understand it correctly,” Eberl said.

“I actually wanted to say: yes, I was in Saudi Arabia – with the German U18 national team. That’s my experience of Saudi Arabia. Everything else is from another world. A lot is being written along those lines. But no.”

Eberl’s contract with Bayern runs until 2027, and the 52-year-old recently told DAZN that he is open to extending his stay at the club.
