Storage Wars starRene Nezhoda believes that persistent online harassment and cyberbullying may have played a role in the tragic suicide of his longtime co-star, Darrell Sheets.
"He had this guy, like, really, really tormenting him lately and cyberbullying [him]," Nezhoda said in an Instagram video shared shortly after news broke of Sheets' death Wednesday at age 67. "Darrell has been posting a lot about the guy that's been cyberbullying him and tormenting him, and I really hope law enforcement look into that guy and it's just not a pass," he added.
Sgt. Kyle Ridgway of the Lake Havasu City Police Department in Arizona confirmed to Page Six that these cyberbullying allegations are officially part of the ongoing investigation.
Public message amid tragedy
Nezhoda used his platform to issue a direct plea, reminding followers that reality TV personas don't always reflect real life.
"Guys, just because you watch us on television doesn't mean you know us," he said. "It doesn't mean you know what we're about."
The reality TV star was firm in condemning online bullying, adding: "Nothing gives anyone the right to bully. If you know someone who does it, let them know they need to be a better person." He also issued a stark warning: "You never know what someone is facing or how far you can push them."
Relationship beyond the cameras
Nezhoda also clarified that their well-known on-screen rivalry was largely part of the show's dynamic.
"I know a lot of you guys think we hated each other because we competed a lot on the show," he explained. "We had our moments, but that's because we were both competitors."
Investigative details
According to authorities, Sheets died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. His body was found at his residence, and the case is being handled by the criminal investigations unit, while the Mohave County Coroner continues its review.
Sheets, known as "The Gambler" for his high-risk bidding style, was a cornerstone of Storage Wars, appearing in 163 episodes between 2010 and 2023. After his television career, he retired to Arizona, where he operated an antique shop until the time of his passing.
