Angel Reese is living the DREAM—and Atlanta is reaping the rewards. In her first game since her July 9 injury against the Seattle Storm, Reese returned to the hardwood with a vengeance, powering her stacked roster to a 101-point victory over the Los Angeles Sparks.

Angel Reese Led Her Team In Scoring Against The Los Angeles Sparks, Recording 23 Points And 13 Rebounds

Reese had 23 points and 13 rebounds during the Atlanta Dream’s recent matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks. The LSU alum recorded her league-leading 16th double-double of the season.

The Dream scored their first field goal of the fourth quarter with a little over four minutes remaining. Then, Reese made her third three-point shot of the season to give the Georgia-based team a three-point advantage.

Reese sank two free throws on the next possession to extend the lead to five before her teammate, Jordin Canada, added two more points, making it 94-87.

Reese, 24, returned to College Park for the first time since July 9, when she rolled her ankle just before the game ended, forcing her to sit out against the Portland Fire on Saturday, July 11.

Reese was the Player of the Game and spoke with the media after the contest about her team’s thrilling win over Nneka Ogwumike’s LA Sparks.

“It felt good. I just wanted to do whatever it takes to get a win. I’m happy I felt good, and the environment was crazy,” Reese said. “I felt like I was back home in Baltimore. My family was here, and the culture was amazing. I told y’all earlier in the pregame, ‘You’ve got to get here.’ This environment is so intimate. I just like it here.”

The Dream desperately needed a win last night, considering they were 1-5 before tip-off. Despite the recent losing streak, Reese and her teammates were determined to leave everything on the floor.

“We’ve had a tough stretch,” she said. “We haven’t played our best, but being able to come out tonight and continue to get better every day is what we’re going to continue to do.”

Reese’s Teammates Gas Her Up Following Her Clutch Performance Against The Los Angeles Sparks

Reese’s teammate, Allisha Gray, added 20 points to the Dream’s total last night, while Canada finished with 16 and Rhyne Howard with 11. Gray spoke positively about Reese’s impact on the game last night, stating she was “happy” to see the 24-year-old’s clutch three-point shot go through.

“That was a big bucket. All I remember is me just crashing the [offensive] board, and Angel [Reese] knocked it down, squeezed the target. She works on that [shot] every single day after practice, before practice,” Gray said, according to Wilton C. Jackson II.

Gray credited Reese’s relentless motor and dedication to refining her game, saying her growth reflects the work she puts in behind the scenes.

“People really, really don’t see the type of work that she puts in. Like, she’s a superstar, but a very unselfish superstar, and like she really puts in the work. So I’m not surprised she hit that three because it’s just like she works on it every single day,” Gray concluded.

Angel Reese Will Be An All-Star For The Third Season In A Row

Reese and her teammates have more to celebrate, as they will be suiting up for the upcoming All-Star Game in Chicago on Saturday, July 25. Reese will be joined by Gray and Howard.

Before Reese was named an All-Star reserve, there was chatter that she was overlooked for a starter spot, given that she had better stats than the Wings’ Jessica Shepherd, who was named one of the 10 starters.

According to The Blast, Reese wasn’t concerned about that, telling the media she had a feeling she’d been “disrespected” in that way. She was, however, more upset that her teammates weren’t represented.

“… it’s a very big shocker to see that none of us were starters, especially where we are as a team in the league,” she said. “I’m sure we’re still going to be All-Stars. I have no doubt in my mind that we still will be, but I think it is important to note that none of us were starters on a team that has had so much success this year.”

In other Reese news, the basketball star is releasing a new colorway of her signature sneaker, “Expressive Pink,” this Friday.
